About 2 months ago I posted Aubrey’s bedroom remodel. It is so lovely and so organized, until you open the closet doors.
Once those doors open you find this horrible mess!! Every night I would fight to get the doors open and every night I would swear that I was going to do something about this mess.
That little wall hid my corner of shame. In this corner I piled clothes that she had grown out of, clothes that were given to us that she had not grown in to, and only God knows what else was in that corner.
I sat down on a Monday night and I sketched out this plan. I did a lot of research on pinterest and other sites and found that my best solution was going to be the closetmaid option from Home Depot. I used their website to get the measurement of the pieces I wanted and the next day I went up to the local Home Depot to double check sizes, price and inventory.
Around Wednesday I started pulling things out of the closet. These photos give you some idea of the amount of stuff that was in the closet. Keep in mind none of this came out of the bins – it all came out of the closet!!!
Once I had things pulled out of the closet and my plan finalized I headed out to purchase my supplies.
Aubrey and I spent Saturday morning painting the walls. My plan included leaving the closet doors off. Aubrey has a tiny room and leaving those doors off gave her about 3 extra feet of play area. I brought the lavender color of her room into the closet and then we painted the back of the closet in a bright pink – her choice!
JoJo and I spent the rest of Saturday and most of Sunday putting together the storage pieces and getting everything set up. On Sunday evening I was able to start adding her stuff back to the closet and do some serious organizing.
My end result looked a little like this. . ..
Just in case you need to see the side by side comparison . . .
