Tour My House | Aubrey Edition

15
Nov

Over the last couple of months I have received a couple of emails questioning certain rooms of my house.  They want to know where I got a particular item, how my office is laid out, etc.  I thought it would be fun to take you on a tour through my house one room at a time. Since we just recently turned Aubrey’s room into a big girl room I wanted it to be the first one I showed off.. . . . it really is the perfect room :)

This is the view from the door :)

Right above the door is this little guy.  We we bought her new big girl bed we also purchased new bedding and room decals.  We purchased everything from Target on Clearance but just look here at their HUGE selection!! These make decorating so easy!!

Right inside the door is this flea market find.  It was a dark brown when I found it and I painted it white and pink to match her nursery.  I changed the knobs to these pretty, clear, crystal ones. On top of it is the lamp we purchased from Target, a piggy bank her Aunt Hayley gave her at the baby shower, a crystal merry go round that grandma gave her and a beautiful snow globe a friend gave her at her baby shower.  The snow globe reads “there is a time for everything and a season for every activity under the heaven” and it plays “Waltz with the flowers” :) To the right you will notice Aubrey’s decorating contribution to the room, she placed one of the decals on the door. Hanging on the wall is a beautiful watercolor one of my friends painted years ago. . .she is super talented.

a closeup of the watercolor. . . . told you she was super talented.  It is a picture of fairies playing in the mushrooms.

On the bottom right side of her dresser she also added the “baby”.  Not sure why she calls him the baby but she absolutely LOVES HIM!!  This photo shows you the weathered look I added to the dresser when I painted it.

Beside the dresser there is a wall of closets.  Right about the closet we added a little Chipmunk.  She loves the movie and when she saw him sitting at the top of her closet she screamed “Allllllllllllllvin” hahaha.  The closets finish out this wall.

The next wall starts off with a window.  Behind the curtain you see another owl peeking out. The dark tan blinds are knockout roman shades we purchased from Bed Bath and Beyond for only $12!!! They are awesome.  The sheer swirly piece is from some fabric I found and my mom then turned into a sheer.  The pink curtains came from target along with the rod with the crystal end.

In the middle of this wall was a huge blank space that filled with the tree decal that came in the same pack from target.  Every one that sees this swears I painted it on the wall. . . . . yeah they look that good and it took me about 10 minutes (with a 2 year old) to finish it.

This photo frame is from her baby shower.  Everyone that came signed it and left her a little message.  The photo is the photo we took before we left the hospital. . .she has changed so much!

This little guy was left over from her birthday party.  We didn’t think it was a good idea to allow 2 year olds to get sticks while blindfolded so we just used the pinata as a decoration :) He actually fit perfectly in her room.  Now that she is older we are going to take it from the soft muted colors to more vibrant colors and he was the inspiration for that thought.

Here is the new toddler bed and the new bedding. . . . all clearance at Target. The bed runs along the next wall and is pretty much the only thing there besides the toy box that sits at the end of the bed.

We keep the top off the toy box so she want pinch her fingers or crawl inside it and hide.  Also notice the black smear on the wall beside her bed. . . . she stole some of my art pencils and added some more decorations.

On this wall I framed my husband’s favorite digital scrapbook layout and surrounded it with shadowboxes filled with our favorite shoes of hers.

this is the print

The corner is a weird shape so we created her a “dress up” area.  We hung a coat rack that my sister passed down to us. We filled it with hats, tutus, and bags. Above it in a pink frame is the quote “if you are confident then you are beautiful”

This is my favorite wall!!! This wall is to the right when you walk into the door.  The pink flower light was a $4 purchase from Ikea.  The shelf was an $8 purchase from Marshall’s.  The wings and the beaded headpiece she wore in the wedding.  There is a picture of her daddy right beside the football rattle she had as a baby :) The 2 prints I love so much.  The small one is another piece from my friend and the little girl with the cat is from Etsy.   She out her shop here.  The little flip flops she got from our last trip to Ohio.  She kept playing with “her shoes” and Mrs Stickley was sweet enough to let her have them.  I call her my little monkey and that is where the little monkey comes in.  Behind the mermaid is a crystal angel bear that my grandmother gave her. The mermaid is from Judie Bomberger and you can find her stuff here. My husband calls me and Aubrey his mermaids because we love the water and the tub soooo much :)

Right below the shelf on the wall is her media center – hahaha.  I took a shelf I purchased from AC Moore. I painted it white with pink stripes and then turned it on the side.  I purchased the 2 drawers from target for $6.99.  I then filled it with toys, books (the ones she is allowed to play with – we are in the tearing out pages phase).  The TV is an old one that was in my office.  We hooked it up to a dvd player so she can watch her movies in her room.  I swear I am so tired of Happy Feet and The Chipmunks.  On top of the DVD player is her iPod player so her and her daddy can have dance parties.  To the right just outside the door is Dakota. . . she’s the large black spot hahahaa

I hope you enjoyed Aubrey’s room. I LOVE IT and once Santa comes we will have lots of rearranging to do but for now it is just perfect!

Shirley, I love being able to take a glimpse into the decor of others and thank you for sharing Aubrey’s sweet, girlie room with us!

I love it all, but find myself really drawn to your husband’s favorite layout and the lovely showcasing of Aubrey’s shoes!

Well done! :D
